S. came over today for a visit; she mentioned some pain in her lower back, and pretty soon she was on the massage table and I was using some of the stuff I've just learned in deep-tissue and sports massage classes--mmm, and it was such a warm day I didn't bother heating the room--quality time.

It almost made me late for my meeting with HC&C, my new employer. Holy cow, I have a job. And it doesn't start for a week, because it's a tiny company, and the entire management team--a husband and wife--are going on vacation, so I still have a week of relative freedom*. They employ three techs, including me. To go from something as big as UC to something this small, even after more than a year off, kind of makes my head spin. It'll be interesting to see what politics develop in such a tiny organization--almost like a family, and I have a feeling my role will be eldest brother.

*If only the first four days weren't so thoroughly scheduled:
Thursday a.m.give massages at Center for AIDS Services.
Thursday p.m.free--study for final in massage class Saturday, practice for concert Saturday night
Friday a.m.pick up van to move gamelan
Friday p.m.help move gamelan, rehearse
Saturday a.m.massage class, try to finish early
Saturday p.m.gamelan concert (Crowden School, Sacramento & Rose Streets, Berkeley, 8:00 p.m.); help put gamelan back on truck afterward
Sunday a.m.drive truck to Sacramento for Sacramento concert
Sunday p.m.same routine as Saturday p.m. only in Sacramento; drive back and unload gamelan
Mondaygo for a bike ride!
